September 10

This Seminar helps you appreciate your own personal ways of collecting and processing information as a spiritual tool.

This seminar is a must at sometime in your spiritual journey. It began with filling out a short personality indicator and continued to guide the participant in getting to know themselves and others in ways that relate to our concepts of spirituality, institutional church and personal preferences.

The seminar helped each person to gain a broader picture of their gifts, challenges and needs in dealing with their spiritual life and institutional ties whether religious or secular.

God has given us a great tool to use in our approach to know and serve God.  That is our self..  This seminar gave us some insight into what that means to us in our lives.  This seminar is different each year and each time you participate you will add new layers of understanding and enrichment.

         October 15

The Spiritual Journey…

understanding what it is and how to enrich your journey.

Within the first hour participants began to acquire a new vocabulary and a new perspective on how to discuss spirituality with ‘yourself’, ‘others’ and God.   The areas of study and prayer were highlighted.  Awareness was defined and exercises that promote awareness explained.  Participants listened to ways to understand  what is meant by living in the ‘presence of the Lord’ and how to create the environment that allows you to experience this.  This will lead to an ‘ability’ to understand how close to God/Christ you really are.!

February 4

This Seminar initiates the participants into meditation as a Spiritual Tool.

In Spirituality learning to meditate is not about relaxation, stress reduction, or self-improvement but rather improving one’s mindfulness. Mindfulness helps us experience our life more fully. It especially helps us get to know ourselves. We can use mindfulness to over come the unskillful habits of our mind.  This alone can make a big difference on the road to self control and introspection which helps us become more aware of God in our lives, more aware of the gifts we have been given to nurture and more satisfied people.

Following through with the training and many suggestions you will receive in these ‘Baby Steps’ into meditation may bring you new insights, new ways to cope, to ways to feel at ease, new ways to learn, new ways to appreciate….and more. Join us for this special time exploring one of spirituality’s oldest tools in training for personal ‘wholeness’ and greater clarity into one’s personal discipleship.

Weekly Educational Opportunities

Monday Morning Bible Study

10:00a.m. the group meets in the kitchen over coffee and tea and baked goods to study the book of James. Everyone is welcome. Just bring your Bible or borrow one of ours and join the group.

James is an interesting book with many helpful hints for living well with yourself and your neighbors. Whether you have studied the Bible all your life or are trying it for the first time, you have a place waiting in our group. Our pastor is the teacher and she always has something nurturing for us to ponder as we study.

Wednesday Evening Spirituality Class

7:00p.m. the group gathers in the library (down the hall from the sanctuary, the library will be on your left). This year the Spirituality Class is studying issues that have been with the church from the beginning to the present day and how these issues react with our spirituality. Spirituality is the ‘awareness of God’ that each of us experiences. On occasions we also study Eastern religions and philosophies.

We are each experiencing according to our life exposures to religion and our particular ways of gathering and processing information. This class will help each person with their particular journey and struggles. The class will help with putting some perspective on the institutional side of Christianity – something we all have to deal with regardless of whatever denomination or denominations you have so far experienced.

The class is taught by our pastor who is a certificated Spiritual Director and has not only led many classes but worked for many denominations.  We always welcome everyone to our class regardless of current church affiliation. Spirituality is nondenominational.
